23.6 Butterfly Habitat Cage

This portable pop-up house is designed for rearing and breeding butterflies, praying mantises, and other bugs. The professional version of the butterfly enclosure is square, stable, and does not move. When unfolded, the pavilion measures 15.7 x 15.7 x 23.6 inches. Here are some instructions for using the butterfly enclosure: 1. Be cautious when opening the big, tall monarch butterfly tents. After removing the elastic strap, the cube cage can unexpectedly pop open. Make sure you have ample space and no fragile objects nearby. 2. Once you open the net cage, you may notice creases on the PVC side from folding. Quickly remove the creases by blow drying the PVC with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes, or place it in warm sunlight to relax the wrinkles. 3. Always close the cage door so that the zippers meet at the top center. This will allow you to unzip the other side in case a caterpillar is on the zipper. 4. Clean the mesh cage after a disease outbreak or at the end of the season by soaking it in a 5% bleach solution (19 parts water to 1 part bleach) for approximately 20 minutes. You can soak the cage in a tub or laundry tub. 5. Rinse your butterfly garden with water and let it dry in the sun. You can hang it on a clothesline or place a rock on the floor to prevent it from blowing away. 6. When folding the cage for storage, place your hands on opposite upper corners and press one corner to fold the cage flat. 7. Store the cage flat in a closet, under a bed, or behind a couch.

The mesh on all six sides of the butterfly habitat promotes healthy airflow for monarch butterflies, ladybugs, praying mantises, and even some small animals. The fine mesh prevents tiny ants, wasps, and other predator insects from entering.
